Network Administrator

Department: Rhode Island Admin
Location: Rumford, RI

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a motivated Network Administrator who is excited to work with a global leader in engineered plastics. The Network Administrator is a key role, installing & configuring network equipment, maintaining and keeping secure the local LAN, systems infrastructure, and all areas of computer technology, including systems related escalations from the Help Desk. They will have a close working relationship with the IT staff at the corporate headquarters in Germany and supporting connectivity with satellite offices in Canada and Mexico.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write technical support documentation for network systems and applications.
  • Assist in network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Maintain stable and consistent connectivity across all network computers.
  • Troubleshoot problems with the system.
  • Assess a company or organization’s network and computer system needs.
  • Consistently monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance.
  • Create, adjust, and maintain network user settings and permissions.
  • Write technical support documentation for network systems and applications.
  • Working with outside vendors/suppliers and sales reps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or related field of study.
  • CCNA/Network+ Certifications
  • Understanding of computer network infrastructure.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn technologies and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of IT staff inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Network essentials (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Subnetting, Routing)
  • Network security, including Firewall and endpoint anti-virus.
  • Cisco CLI, Cisco Switches, Fiber Optics
  • FortiGate Firewalls, Fortinet Access Points

Basic knowledge of:

  • Terminal Services, and Remote Desktop Services
  • Back-up technologies
  • Microsoft 2008-2022 server, Windows 7-10 workstations - Hardware and OS.
  • Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Intune, and Office 365
  • Network Monitoring Systems

Familiarity with some of our current vendor services preferable:

  • Cisco
  • Fortinet
  • Dell
  • Verizon
  • Cox
  • Video Systems
  • Door Control Systems
