GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Harnessing Lead Buyer/Planner oversees the Buyer/Planner team, managing daily activities related to procuring and expediting harnessing materials. The role focuses on maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring timely deliveries, and achieving a Lean environment through 5S practices. Responsibilities include adhering to company P.O. timeframes, forecasting demand, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating logistics. The Lead Buyer/Planner also works to optimize processes, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage team performance, providing coaching and feedback as necessary
Train new team members in their specific job tasks and safety procedures
Using and navigating MFG, ERP systems and using ERP systems for buying/planning operations.
Identify and resolve problems and bottlenecks in the Buying/Planning process
Consistently monitor and replenish inventory to ensure availability of goods.
Facilitate and encourage a positive working environment to boost productivity
Analyze historical data and market trends to help forecast future production needs.
Develop plans for short-term and long-term production, considering customer demands.
Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate changes in customer demand or unexpected delays.
Work with vendors to reduce inventories and increase inventory turns while not sacrificing deliveries to the customer.
Collaborate with Product Mangers, Buying / Planning Team and Engineering groups to ensure product inventory levels meet the needs of the customer.
Communicate and coordinate on project status, orders and deliveries with Product Managers to meet the companies on time delivery standards.
Perform other quality assignments and duties as assigned.
Assist the buying/purchasing department on an as needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS:
College degree, and 5 years' experience in relevant Purchasing/Planning field.
Strong interpersonal management skills.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and experience in production scheduling.
Experience with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Ability to analyze production data and forecast future demand.
Proficiency in reading, understanding and using mechanical drawings required.
5 plus years' experience in material management of industrial products preferred.
5 plus years' experience using ERP production scheduling software required.
Excellent interpersonal relations and strong communication, organizational and time management skills required
High sense of urgency with ability to work in a fast-paced team environment anticipating and adjusting to challenges
Proficient at Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
